Are Web 2.0 Marketing Strategies a Big Waste Of Time

There is certainly quite a bit of hype and buzz about Web 2.0 these days so I decided to do a little research on my own. After all was said and done, I drew my own conclusion that the web 2.0 revolution was highly overrated.

This doesn't mean the at web 2.0 doesn't have its rightful place in the marketplace because it does. Sites like Digg, Twiiter and Technorati are definitely here to stay but I don't think the old school internet marketers that are making millions a year have totally drank the Kool-aid.

One extremely successful internet marketer that I will not name has shared his entire product promotion strategy with me and I was shocked at what I found.

The first thing I found amazing was that his system consisted of 15 different marketing pillars of methods for the launch of any product. This proves to be really successful you must have a multi pronged attack.

The relational aspect of marketing came in to play when it came to joint venture partners and alliances built on every launch. This was similar to the Web 2.0 marketing concept but went much deeper in terms of actually focusing on a uniform goal versus the downside of Web 2.0 strategy for many becomes people pitching each on their latest deal.

There was an interesting blend of paid versus free advertising, however, it was all based on highly leveraged techniques and strategies. Each method seemed to compliment another in a very harmonious way. This was all done by design.

Since we are on the topic of design , this carefully thought out marketing plan was entailed in the form of a flow chart from start to finish. Most marketers don't commit their plans to paper and fail to create a step by step plan for each project.

Back to the social networking piece, I found that only eighteen percent of the marketing strategies used consisted of some form of web 2.0 marketing, social networking, social bookmarking or included video content sites.

So after some careful thought I decided to write this article to inform the general public that Web 2.0 marketing strategies should be vital component in your marketing campaign. to reach your full potential, consider using multiple forms both traditional and Web 2.0 marketing to capitalize on all of the best opportunities in the marketplace.
